CACYOF Ibadan Centre Holds Transformative Executive Leaders’ Boot Camp

By Pastor A. A. Daniels

The Christ Apostolic Church Youth Fellowship (CACYOF), Ibadan Centre, has held its 2025 Executive Leaders’ Boot Camp aimed at strengthening leadership capacity and deepening spiritual insight among its officers. It held from Friday, December 5 to Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Alpha Mission Prayer Garden, Koroboto Village, Off Ajia Road, Ibadan.

Designed to deepen spiritual insight and enhance leadership effectiveness, the two-day retreat brought together the Centre’s executive leadership team led by Pastor S. O. Okeowo (Centre Coordinator), Pastor M. O. Olayera (Assistant Coordinator), and Pastor Ayobami Ojo (Secretary). The camp was organised by a dedicated six-member planning committee chaired by Evangelist Sam Oluwatosin, with Pastor A. A. Daniels serving as secretary, alongside Pastor Oluwatobi Odedina, Evangelist Mrs. Babalola C. O., Mrs. Motunrayo Ajibola, and Sister Modupe Adebisi.

The two-day boot camp, which featured lectures, worship, prayers and strategic discussions, was designed to equip Centre leaders spiritually, mentally and administratively for effective ministry in the coming year.

Day One opened on Friday evening with a lecture titled “Success Attitude for Christian Leaders” delivered by Pastor Ayobami Ojo. He urged participants to cultivate the mind of Christ (Philippians 2:5) as the foundation for true leadership success, stressing that leadership begins within. He noted that a leader’s inner disposition, attitude, humility and faith directly affect effectiveness, and challenged participants to align their thoughts, actions and decisions with God’s purpose.

Day Two featured two major sessions. The first, “Effectual Prayer and Word System for Leadership Growth in a Distractive World”, was taken by the Superintendent, CAC Mokola DCC, Pastor S. O. Gbuyiro, who emphasised the need for a disciplined spiritual life in the midst of distractions. He explained that distractions, though not always sinful, can pull leaders away from their God-given assignments if not managed properly. He outlined practical strategies for prioritising prayer, meditating on the Word and maintaining focus despite busy schedules.

The second lecture, “Sharpening the Edge – Building Competence and Capacity for Transformation”, was delivered by the Director of Youth Affairs, CAC Nigeria & Overseas, Pastor Peter Olanrewaju, PhD. He explained that effective leadership demands both competence and capacity—competence to perform duties well and capacity to sustain performance under pressure. He encouraged leaders to invest in personal development, empower their teams, mentor others and create environments that promote excellence and spiritual growth.

Pastor Olanrewaju taught that competence equips leaders to perform their duties, while capacity sustains them through challenges and growth opportunities. Through illustrative examples, he demonstrated how investment in both personal development and team empowerment results in transformational impact within the fellowship. Leaders were encouraged to continually upgrade their skills, mentor others, and create environments that foster excellence and spiritual growth.

The Boot Camp also provided ample time for reflection, fellowship and interaction, creating a spiritually enriching atmosphere marked by worship and prayers. The programme rounded off with a Family Meeting, during which the 2025 activities were reviewed and ideas were harvested to shape the 2026 calendar.

The 2025 CACYOF Ibadan Centre Leaders’ Boot Camp is seen as a clear demonstration of the Centre’s commitment to raising spiritually grounded, competent and committed youth leaders, prepared to lead and serve with excellence across assemblies.
